New community child-protection structures launched
Community leaders, teachers and parents are forming safeguarding committees to protect children at the village level.
SFUCI has launched new village-level child protection committees bringing together local leaders, teachers, religious figures, and parents to safeguard children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. These structures are the front line of child protection — close enough to spot risks early and trusted enough to act.
Committee members are trained in child rights, safe referral pathways, and psychosocial first aid. They work alongside SFUCI staff to respond to cases, link families with services, and run community awareness sessions that shift harmful norms.
By rooting protection in the community itself, we are building a culture where every child is seen, heard, and safe. The smiles of children who know an adult is looking out for them tell the story better than any report ever could.
